Code of Conduct

Based on ETHGlobal’s code of conduct

MACHN-Web3 Hackathon is a conference and hackathon taking place in Germany Leipzig. We value the participation of each member and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout the duration of the hackathon. To clarify what is expected, all attendees and all participants at this hackathon must follow the following Rules & Code of Conduct - Organizers will enforce this code during the event.

Rules on Pre-existing Work

Each hack submission will be judged solely on the quality of the work completed during the duration of the hackathon.

If you use pre-existing code in your project, you need to disclose all information in your submission. If, upon inspection, you present work that appears to have been completed before the hackathon began that you did not disclose, you will need to explicitly point out how your new work differs from old work.

NOTE: Historically, projects that use a majority of pre-existing work do not score as high in the judging as projects which present wholly new and novel approaches - the whole point of this hackathon is to create.

Code of Conduct

MACHN-Web3 Hackathon is a place for creative collaboration, learning, and sharing. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and other negative behaviour at our events.

• “Harassment” includes but is not limited to offensive verbal or written comments or other online activity related to gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, physical appearance, race, religion, sexual images, deliberate intimidation, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. If participants fail to comply they will be banned from all channels and access to the event.
• Sponsors, judges, mentors, volunteers, organizers, MACHN-Web3 Hackathon staff and anyone else at the event are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, attendees should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material both in their hacks and during the event.
• Be careful and mindful of the words that you choose at all times. Remember that sexist, racist, and other exclusionary comments and hacks will be discualified.
• If a participant engages in behavior that violates this code of conduct, the hackathon organizers will take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling them from the event.
• If you feel uncomfortable or think there may be a potential violation of the code of conduct, please report it immediately to one of the event organizers.

Event Rules & Conditions

The following rules & conditions apply to MACHN-Web3 Hackathon (“The Event”)

1. Please be aware that this event is only for people above 18 years old.
2. You assume full responsibility for any damage, injury, or monetary loss caused by you in your participation in The Event (whether to persons or property, and whether to yourself or others) and release the MACHN-Web3 Hackathon , The Event, all sponsors of The Event, The Event volunteers, The Event staff, guests of The Event and all other participants in The Event (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any liability therefore. YOU ARE AWARE THAT YOUR PARTICIPATION IN The Event IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND THAT THE RELEASE HEREIN IS INTENDED TO REFLECT THAT UNDERSTANDING.
3. You will own any developments made by you during The Event, and all right, title and interest in those developments, including the intellectual property rights therein, shall belong to you. However, you acknowledge that during the course of The Event, you may obtain access to products, developments, information and other materials belonging to other participants of The Event, the sponsors of The Event and/or other third parties (“Third Party Materials”), and that nothing in this Agreement is deemed to transfer any ownership, right, title or interest in such Third Party Materials to you. Your only rights to the Third Party Materials shall be those expressly granted to you by the owner(s) of the Third Party Materials. Specifically, any APIs or other software provided to you by sponsors of The Event are subject to the subscription terms and software licenses associated with such APIs or other software.
